“I was sure by now, God you would have reached down
And wiped our tears away,
Stepped in and saved the day.
But once again, I say amen
That it’s still raining
As the thunder rolls
I barely hear your whisper through the rain
I’m with you
And as your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise
The God who gives and takes away
And I’ll praise you in this storm
And I will lift my hands
That you are who you are
No matter where I am
And every tear I’ve cried
You hold in your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise you in this storm“
I Will Praise You In The Storm – Casting Crowns
In life, we go through storms rather frequently. Our lives are made of the highest mountains and the deepest valleys. Through it all, “You never left my side.” That’s one of the amazing things about God, no matter what He never leaves our side.
He never leaves us even when we have turned from him a million times. It’s like the story with the prodigal son. The son spent all of his riches, and he ended up eating with the pigs. However, when the son finally returned to his father, he was there with open arms ready for his son. Isn’t it God’s Grace just amazing?
When we are in the midst of a storm, it is easy for us to look at our circumstances and become defeated. However, that is the moment when we need to look to the Lord and praise Him in the storm. We forget that it’s okay that we don’t know everything or have everything planned out because our God does. Hasn’t He been there in storms before? Why would we doubt that He wouldn’t be here through this one? God has already prepared a way. Nothing is a mystery to God.
Storms help us to remember that we were never created to truly be the independent creatures that society has told us to be. We were made to have that dependency on God. We were made to have a relationship with Him. That is why it is so important to depend on God through the storms. The whole phrase of “God will never give you more than you can handle” is a blatant lie. He will give us more than we can handle time and time again so that we will depend on God for His strength and not our own.
Storms are blessings in disguise as long as you trust in God for He has prepared a way. He will never leave our sides.
Praise Him in the storm.
